We’re all looking forward to this weekend’s Belgian royal wedding, but last weekend, the royals attended another family wedding in France. And there were major jewels on display!
King Philippe and Queen Mathilde headed to Pont-l’Évêque in northern France on Saturday for the wedding of her younger brother, Count Charles-Henri d’Udekem d’Acoz, to Caroline Philippe. They were accompanied by three of their children: Princess Elisabeth, Prince Emmanuel, and Princess Eleonore. (The fourth, Prince Gabriel, is away on military training.)
Queen Mathilde wore a green gown and headpiece with some truly luscious emerald jewels. Her earrings feature cabochon emerald drops suspended from modern diamond settings. She also wore a ring on her left hand with a large emerald stone and a pavé-set diamond band.
The Duchess of Brabant wore an ensemble we’ve seen before. She previously wore this floral dress and coordinating headpiece for the National Day celebrations in July 2020.
We’ve also seen these earrings previously—just not on Elisabeth. She borrowed the modern gold (plated) and (faux) pearl drop earrings from her mother, Queen Mathilde.
Queen Mathilde wore the earrings this April to visit an art exhibition in Liege. According to UFO No More, the earrings were made by Carolina Herrera.
The groom at the wedding is Queen Mathilde’s only brother, Count Charles-Henri d’Udekem d’Acoz. He’s a lawyer who lives and works in Brussels.
His bride, Caroline Philippe, is an investment banker who also resides in Brussels. She wore modern diamond earrings with heart-shaped designs for the wedding ceremony, which was held at the Église Saint-Michel de Pont-l’Évêque.
Caroline wore an heirloom lace veil that belongs to the d’Udekem d’Acoz family. She didn’t wear a tiara for her wedding ceremony, but she did wear some lovely diamond floral brooches with the veil!
