On Wednesday, Queen Mathilde of the Belgians wore gorgeous diamond and pearl jewels for a visit to a new bank building in Brussels.
King Philippe and Queen Mathilde arrived at the new headquarters of the BNP Paribas Fortis Bank in Brussels on Wednesday for a royal visit.
The couple participated in a roundtable discussion during their tour of the new bank headquarters.
Queen Mathilde wore an elegant black-and-white houndstooth ensemble for the bank visit, accessorized with diamond and pearl jewelry. The spotlight piece was her intricate diamond and pearl brooch, which she pinned near her right shoulder.
Here’s a closer look at the brooch from a previous occasion (a visit to Paris in October 2016). The lovely brooch made its debut on Mathilde’s birthday in January 2015, leading many to speculate that it may have been a birthday gift. It’s one of the most significant brooches in her collection, yet it’s delicate enough for regular daytime wear.
Mathilde also wore her classic round diamond drop earrings for the bank visit.
And you’ll spot her newest ring, which features a large blue gemstone surrounded by a thin halo of diamonds, on her left hand. Many have wondered whether the ring may have been a twentieth wedding anniversary gift from King Philippe, who has provided her with several ring upgrades during their marriage.
