Before November draws to a close, we’ve got to spend a little more time with the month’s honey-colored birthstone. And who has better citrines and topazes in her collection than Queen Máxima, wife of the head of the House of Orange? Today, let’s shine a spotlight on one of my favorite pieces from her jewelry box, her Diamond and Citrine Bracelet.
The bracelet features various shades of oval-cut citrines, set in a haphazard, modern design and interspersed with diamonds. The piece is one of the largest bracelets in Máxima’s jewelry collection. She’s been wearing the jewel for more than 15 years, often pairing it with other pieces of citrine jewelry.
Here, in October 2006, Máxima wears the bracelet for an art exhibition opening in The Hague.
Over the years, Máxima has worn the bracelet for a wide range of different occasions, ranging from the very casual to the very formal. Here, she wears the bracelet on her left wrist (stacked with her diamond wedding bracelet) for the family’s annual summer photo session in 2021.
Here, in January 2016, she wears the bracelet for the traditional New Year’s Reception at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam.
In July 2011, she wore the bracelet for Prince Albert II and Prince Charlene of Monaco’s religious wedding ceremony at the Palais Princier.
And in April 2014, she wore the bracelet with spectacular diamonds and citrines (including the Dutch Diamond Bandeau) for a state banquet in Amsterdam during the Swedish state visit to the Netherlands.
Máxima has also occasionally loaned the bracelet to other family members as well. Here, in April 2013, Princess Aimee (daughter-in-law of Princess Margriet) wears the bracelet for King Willem-Alexander’s inauguration ceremony.
And in September 2007, Máxima loaned the bracelet to her mother, Maria del Carmen Cerruti, for Willem-Alexander’s 40th birthday party in Apeldoorn.
In recent years, Máxima has continued to wear the bracelet frequently. Here, it peeks out from her right glove on Prinsjesdag in September 2020.
She wore the bracelet again for the same occasion in September 2021.
The bracelet dazzled on Máxima in April 2021 for the annual King’s Day celebrations, which were held virtually that year in Eindhoven and The Hague.
And in May 2022, the bracelet managed to sparkle even against a feathery background for the annual Liberation Day Festival in Amsterdam.
