It’s finally here, everyone: the day that so many of us have lovingly called “Tiara Christmas” over the past years. The Swedish royal family will be attending the Nobel Prize ceremony and banquet in Stockholm this evening, and for the first time since 2019, tiaras will be on display! Let’s start making our predictions for this evening’s jewels for Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, and Princess Sofia, shall we?
To help us with our guesses, I’ve assembled a look at the tiaras we’ve seen each of the three royal women wear in 2022. (Reminder that Madeleine is not scheduled to attend tonight’s banquet, so we haven’t included her.) Queen Silvia’s tiaras for the year have included the Cameo Tiara (worn for official portraits in March), the Leuchtenberg Sapphire Parure Tiara (worn for the Representationsmiddag in April), and the King Edward VII Ruby Tiara (worn for the Finnish state dinner in May)…
…the Napoleonic Amethyst Parure Tiara (worn for the Danish Golden Jubilee Concert in September), Queen Sofia’s Tiara (worn for the Danish Golden Jubilee Banquet in September), and the Braganza Tiara (worn for the Dutch state banquet in October). And for reference, Silvia’s last three Nobel Tiaras have been Queen Sofia’s Tiara (2019), Queen Sofia’s Tiara (2018), and—shocker—Queen Sofia’s Tiara (2017).
My realistic tiara prediction for tonight: Queen Sofia’s Tiara. (Sigh.)
My fantasy tiara prediction for tonight: The Leuchtenberg Sapphire Tiara, or maybe the Connaught Diamond Tiara with the Bernadotte Emeralds?
Crown Princess Victoria’s tiaras for 2022 have included the Napoleonic Cut Steel Tiara (worn for official portraits in March), the Boucheron Laurel Wreath Tiara (worn for the Representationsmiddag in April), and the Cut Steel Tiara again (worn for the Finnish state dinner in May)…
…the Laurel Wreath Tiara (worn for Princess Ingrid Alexandra’s birthday gala in June), the Laurel Wreath Tiara again (worn for the Representationsmiddag in September), and the Napoleonic Amethyst Parure Tiara (worn for the Dutch state banquet in October). Victoria has also worn three different tiaras for the last three bejeweled Nobels: the Baden Fringe Tiara (2019), the Connaught Diamond Tiara (2018), and the Aquamarine Kokoshnik (2017).
My realistic tiara prediction for tonight: The Laurel Wreath or the Six-Button Tiara.
My fantasy tiara prediction for tonight: The King Edward VII Ruby Tiara.
Princess Sofia’s tiara roster for the year has been a bit slimmer. She wore her Diamond Palmette Tiara in its diamond setting (worn for official portraits in March), the same tiara in its emerald setting (worn for the Representationsmiddag in April), and the same tiara in its pearl setting (worn for the Finnish state dinner in May)…
…the same tiara in its pearl setting (worn for the Representationsmiddag in September), and the same tiara in its emerald setting (for the Dutch state banquet in October). Thank goodness for the various settings of this tiara, but goodness, let’s hope we get something different tonight! For the last three bejeweled Nobels, Sofia has worn the Palmette Tiara with turquoises (2019), the Palmette Tiara with pearls (2018), and the Palmette Tiara with pearls (2017).
My realistic tiara prediction for tonight: I’m afraid to even say it.
My fantasy tiara prediction for tonight: LITERALLY anything else! Please!!!
Which tiaras are you hoping to see sparkling on the Bernadottes tonight? We’ll have a first look post at the jewels later this evening, and then more detailed individual articles over the next several days.
