One of the most festive and sweet annual royal holiday traditions took place last week: Queen Camilla’s luncheon for children at Clarence House in London.
On December 7, the Queen Consort welcomed children and their caregivers from Helen and Douglas House, a hospice for terminally ill children in Oxford, and Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity, an organization that provides specialist nurses and support for seriously ill children, to Clarence House for her annual Christmas reception. It’s said that this is one of Camilla’s favorite days of the year, and it’s easy to see why.
The children and their carers helped Camilla decorate a special Christmas tree at Clarence House during the reception.
Father Christmas even made an appearance and pitched in to help put ornaments on the tree.
A uniformed soldier from the Grenadier Guards was on hand, too, both to provide even more festive cheer and to lend a helping sword to place ornaments high on the tree.
Queen Camilla helped to serve lunch for the children during the holiday reception, which featured a beautifully decorated and cheerful table.
And best of all, Father Christmas brought a real reindeer to say hello outside Clarence House, too.
Here, Queen Camilla and four-year-old Isaac Wood feed treats to the reindeer together.
Camilla wore a festive red dress with a warm black capelet for the reception, as well as her favorite pearl drop earrings.
She also added her signature stack of bracelets and the necklace featuring the initials of her grandchildren engraved on a gold disc pendant. She pinned a gold and diamond brooch, featuring a scrolling design topped by a crown, to her dress as well. I’ve often thought that you can see intertwined Cs in the brooch’s design.
We’ve seen Camilla wear the brooch occasionally over the years, including a prominent outing at a reception for the High Commissioners of the Commonwealth Realms and their spouses in September, shortly after the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
The Clarence House Christmas tree was also visible in the background on Sunday, as King Charles and Queen Camilla revealed their Christmas card for the year. The card features a photograph taken by Samir Hussein at the Braemar Gathering in September. The image was captured just three days before the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
For the Braemar Gathering this year, Camilla wore her diamond and pearl drop earrings with a lovely little amethyst and diamond floral brooch. You can read more about the jewels from the event in our earlier article here.
