On Wednesday, Queen Camilla was on hand for a pair of receptions at Buckingham Palace, wearing very different diamond jewelry for each event.
During the day on Wednesday, Queen Camilla hosted a reception at Buckingham Palace for the Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada, a Toronto-based regiment of the Canadian Armed Forces.
Camilla has been the Colonel-in-Chief of the regiment since 2011, taking over a role previously held by Queen Mary and Princess Alexandra, the Hon. Lady Ogilvy.
During the reception, Brigadier-General Dwayne Parsons presented Queen Camilla with the Canadian Forces’ Decoration. The medal recognizes those who have completed twelve years of military service. This year marks Camilla’s twelfth year as the regiment’s Colonel-in-Chief.
Here’s a closer look at the medal that Camilla received. You’ll note that her previous title, the Duchess of Cornwall, is engraved along the bottom edge of the medal.
For the reception, Camilla wore a dark green dress with black accessories and some familiar jewelry.
On her dress, she pinned the bejeweled badge of the Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada, which she has been wearing since her appointment as Colonel-in-Chief more than a decade ago.
Here’s one of Camilla’s earliest appearances in the badge. She made her inaugural visit to the regiment’s Toronto headquarters, Moss Park Armory, as Colonel-in-Chief in May 2012.
During the visit, she unveiled a portrait of herself in the role. Helpfully, she wore the same clothes and jewels (including the badge) for the visit that she had worn to sit for the painting.
We also saw Camilla wear the badge for a meeting with military wives of members of the regiment in Trenton in June 2017.
On Wednesday, she wore her favorite diamond and pearl drop earrings with the badge.
She also wore a stack of bracelets on her right wrist, including her blue Van Cleef & Arpels Magic Alhambra bracelet, as well as her engagement and wedding rings on her left hand.
On Wednesday evening, the King and Queen hosted a reception at the palace to celebrate the British East and South-East Asian communities.
For this second reception, Queen Camilla wore a lovely embroidered ensemble. (Also: check out the gorgeous hanbok worn by this guest at the reception!)
With her ensemble, Camilla wore gold and diamond jewels, including diamond drop earrings.
She layered two gold necklaces: a rigid gold torc-style necklace, and a chain with a gold disc pendant engraved with the initials of her grandchildren.
Here’s a look at the bracelet stack on Camilla’s right wrist, including that Magic Alhambra bracelet.
There were also several other members of the royal family present at the reception, including the Princess Royal, the Earl of Wessex, the Duke of Kent, and Princess Alexandra. (I haven’t seen a good photograph of Alexandra’s jewels that I can publish here yet, sadly.)
Princess Anne wore the stud portion of her beloved Andrew Grima earrings, plus a triple strand of pearls and her gold ribbon brooch.
And here’s the Duchess of Gloucester at the reception as well. Birgitte wore gorgeous pavé-set diamond earrings, plus a four-stranded pearl choker necklace with a floral clasp set with diamonds and a central pearl.
