The British state visit to Germany continued today, and Queen Camilla brought out a brooch from her beloved Van Cleef & Arpels collection for the occasion.
King Charles III and Queen Camilla were in Berlin again on Thursday, carrying out a variety of engagements. Here, they visit a market on Wittenbergplatz.
They also headed to the Reichstag Building, home of the Bundestag, Germany’s federal parliament. They were welcomed by Bärbel Bas, who is currently serving as President of the Bundestag.
Both Charles and Camilla signed the Bundestag’s Golden Book during their visit.
And Charles addressed the legislative body, speaking in both English and German during his remarks.
Queen Camilla also headed out on a series of engagements with Elke Buedenbender, the wife of President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. They made a stop at Refugio Café, a project connected to the Berlin City Mission.
They were able to speak with staff, residents, and other groups connected to the project, which provides community and support for both established locals and newcomers to Berlin, including refugees.
While at the cafe, the two women also spoke with cycling advocates. (Love that disco ball helmet!)
The day also included a stop at Berlin’s Komische Oper, an opera company that produces operettas as well as musicals and traditional operas.
The Queen Consort and the First Lady were treated to a performance during the visit. They were also able to chat with performers in elaborate costumes.
And speaking of costumes, Queen Camilla chose a sedate color palette of dark browns for Thursday’s events in Berlin. She wore a tailored brown coat with matching accessories.
Underneath the coat, she wore an animal print dress.
She carried the warm tones of the outfit through to her jewelry, wearing yellow gold and diamond pieces, including earrings with pavé-set pendants.
Here’s a closer look at the earrings.
She also wore a rigid, textured yellow gold torc-style necklace, layered over one of her usual chain necklaces.
She wore both a brooch and a piece of new order insignia as well.
On her right, she wore the miniature ribbon of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, which she received yesterday. She wore the order’s star at last night’s state banquet.
She also wore a piece from her Van Cleef & Arpels collection: a diamond cosmos brooch, set in yellow gold.
Camilla actually owns a pair of the Cosmos brooches, one in yellow gold and one in white gold. She wore both of them together, along with matching earrings, at a Buckingham Palace garden party back in 2005.
We also caught a glimpse of Camilla’s engagement and wedding rings. Her diamond engagement ring famously belonged to the Queen Mother.
And, of course, it wouldn’t be a daytime appearance from Camilla without her gold bracelets, including another piece from Van Cleef & Arpels.
