The Swedish royal family gathered in Stockholm on Tuesday for a particularly fun event on the annual royal calendar: the awarding of the Polar Music Prize.
The Bernadottes are annual attendees at the Polar Music Prize, which honors one contemporary musician and one classical musician every year. The award was founded in 1989 by Stig Anderson, manager of the band ABBA. Some have characterized the award as the equivalent of a Nobel Prize for music.
King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia led the royal party in attendance at this year’s award. Queen Silvia wore a lovely column gown decorated in a floral pattern with sequins in shades of silver, black, and gold.
She carried the color theme through to her jewels as well. She wore an interesting pair of gold earrings with diamond accents (which I believe are leaf-shaped, though it’s tough to be sure) and a gold bangle with a pavé-set diamond detail. Her black pearl necklace also features a pavé-set diamond bead clasp.
Crown Princess Victoria definitely won the award for the most eye-catching look at the prize, wearing an electric yellow evening gown. UFO No More tells us that the organza and tulle gown is from H&M.
Like her mother, Victoria wore earrings that were carefully color-coordinated with her dress.
The Shourouk earrings, which are made of brass and set with crystals, have been in Victoria’s jewelry box for a decade.
Here’s Victoria wearing the earrings and their coordinating statement necklace at the QX Gay Gala in Stockholm back in February 2013.
At this week’s Polar Music Prize, Victoria finished off her look with her usual silver-toned bracelets on her left wrist, plus her engagement and wedding rings. She also wore a rainbow beaded bracelet supporting one of her mother’s most important charitable initiatives, the World Childhood Foundation.
Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia also joined the family at this year’s music prize. Sofia wore a gorgeous gown with an embroidered floral pattern for the event.
She accessorized with an interesting pair of long earrings made of gold and baroque pearls.
Here’s another view of the earrings, which grazed Sofia’s shoulders.
On her right hand, Sofia also wore a trio of rings from Bigli Jewels.
