On Tuesday, the Duchess of Edinburgh stepped out in London wearing a suite of glittering jewels set with multicolored gemstones.
The Duchess joined the Prince of Wales at Battersea Power Station on Tuesday for a screening of Rhino Man, a documentary about the rangers who work tirelessly to protect South Africa’s rhinos from poachers.
Sophie and William’s shared interest in wildlife conservation led to their joint attendance at the film screening.
The screening was hosted by United for Wildlife, an initiative founded in 2014 by Prince William and the Royal Foundation. The organization works to foster “global collaboration in the private sector to stop the trafficking of wildlife products” as a way to protect targeted species like elephants and rhinos.
Sophie wore a summery floral dress for the occasion. The fashion writers at UFO No More tell us that it’s from Erdem. The clutch bag that she carried for the screening comes from a brand that is a royal favorite—and has big royal connections. Sophie Habsburg, the designer of the eponymous line of handbags, is the daughter of two royals: Archduke Ferdinand of Austria (a nephew of Emperor Carl I of Austria) and Countess Helene of Törring-Jettenbach (the daughter of Princess Elizabeth of Greece and Denmark, sister of Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent).
With the floral dress, Sophie wore pieces from a suite of multicolored gemstone jewelry that has been in her collection for a decade.
She wore the earrings, which feature semiprecious stones set in a playful, modern jumble.
Sophie also wore the coordinating ring from the set for the film screening.
The suite also includes a matching necklace. Sophie has worn the pieces occasionally since 2013, both for highly formal occasions (like a banquet in honor of the Sultan of Brunei, pictured above, in October 2017) and for evening receptions and ceremonies. She’s paired the suite more than once with her convertible aquamarine necklace/tiara.
We’ve seen her wear pieces from the set frequently over the past few years. Here, she wears the earrings for The Rifles awards dinner at the Guildhall in November 2021.
In March 2022, she wore the earrings and ring for the Arab Women of Year Awards in London.
And last May, we saw her wear the earrings and ring for the special Royal Windsor Horse Show pageant put on to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.
