While the Brits were in France, there was another foreign royal visit taking place in Europe: Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden’s trip to Finland. Today, we’ve got a look at some fascinating jewels that Victoria wore on day two of the trip.
Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel had a busy first day in Finland on Wednesday, visiting Hanaholmen, a Swedish-Finnish cultural center, and attending a dinner at the Swedish ambassador’s residence. On Thursday, they made stops in both Helsinki and Loviisa.
In Helsinki, they visited the Suomenlinna Sea Fortress and stopped by the Hanken School of Economics.
And in Loviisa, there was an important stop at Kuningattarenranta, a new residential area on the shores of the Bay of Loviisa. There, Victoria inaugurated a new public space, Victoria Square, named in her honor.
For the day’s events, Crown Princess Victoria wore a matching burgundy ensemble with coordinating accessories and jewels.
She wore eye-catching tassel earrings and a matching sautoir-length necklace with a tassel pendant. UFO No More tells us that the jewels are by Sebastian Schildt and are made of silver and garnet.
Victoria has had the set in her jewelry box for several years. Above, she wears the necklace and earrings in Sarajevo in November 2019.
And here, she wears the earrings to receive Sweden’s new prime minister at the Royal Palace in November 2021.
Victoria wore the small button insignia of her Finnish decoration, the Order of the White Rose, on her jacket. She also pinned a bejeweled tribute to her hosts on the opposite side: the Dream Brooch by Kalevala.
The brooch is made of silver and set with a blue topaz. The official website of the jeweler offers this description of the piece: “Designed by Kirsti Doukas, Dream celebrates universal and equal suffrage and is a lasting and beloved classic of contemporary Finnish jewelry design. The lace-like silver structure of the Dream brooch sparkles with a beautifully cut, light-blue topaz.”
Crown Princess Victoria has had the brooch in her collection since 2009, and she often wears it for events related to Finland. Above, she wears the brooch for the official welcome ceremony during the Finnish state visit in May 2022. Queen Silvia, Queen Sonja of Norway, and Grand Duchess Teresa of Luxembourg also own versions of the brooch.
Here’s one more look at Victoria’s tassel suite and brooch from Thursday’s visit to Loviisa.
