It was a gleaming gold night at the opera for Queen Mathilde of the Belgians and her younger daughter, Princess Eleonore, on Thursday.
Mathilde and Eleonore were among the audience members at the Royal Theatre of La Monnaie in Brussels on Thursday evening attending a performance of Cassandra, a new opera with music composed by Bernard Foccroulle and a libretto by Matthew Jocelyn.
Queen Mathilde and Princess Eleonore were greeted by composer Bernard Foccroulle during their visit to the theater.
They were also welcomed by the theater’s general director, Peter De Caluwe.
Queen Mathilde chose an ensemble from Natan for the opera visit: a black and gold floral top with black trousers.
She accessorized with a pair of earrings in her favorite style: oversized, golden statement pieces.
These are the large, gold-plated Poppy earrings from the jewelry designer Christine Bekaert.
Mathilde debuted the earrings in 2022. One of her most prominent previous appearances came during another theater event: the concert held on the eve of National Day in July 2022.
Mathilde also wore her usual bracelets and watch, as well as her wedding ring on her right hand and her diamond and blue gemstone ring on her left.
Princess Eleonore was elegant in a sparkly black top and black trousers for the opera performance.
Her visible jewelry was minimal—just a ring on her right hand.
