The Golden Jubilee festivities have officially begun in Sweden! Here’s a look at some of the jewels worn for the Riksdag and government reception at the Royal Palace in Stockholm earlier today.
The Bernadottes gathered at the Royal Palace for the presentation of several official Golden Jubilee gifts to King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden on Wednesday.
Numerous members of the family attended the gift reception, which included an outdoor presentation in rainy, chilly weather. King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia were joined by Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia, Princess Madeleine, and Princess Christina and Tord Magnuson.
The first gift presented was given by members of the royal court. They collected funds to put toward the installation of two of the King’s golden monograms on the gates of Logården, one of the palace gardens.
Inside the palace, the King received a towering present from members of the Riksdag and the government. They unveiled a new tapestry, based on a watercolor painting by the artist Lars Lerin. The tapestry was made by artisans at Alice Lund Textiles. The project was directed by Frida Lindberg, and the tapestry was woven by Ebba Bergström and Tova Vibrandt. The tapestry will now hang in the palace’s western staircase.
Several other organizations presented the royal couple with gifts as well, including representatives from Min Stora Dag (My Special Day), a foundation that provides special experiences for children dealing with illnesses. Princess Madeleine is the foundation’s patron. (Remember that fabulous royal tea party?)
For the reception, the royal men wore business suits, and the ladies wore day wear. Queen Silvia wore a pink skirt suit with a lace jacket.
She accessorized with a pearl torsade necklace, plus pieces of jewelry set with coral.
Here’s another look at her interesting brooch, a silver-toned piece with a coral center. She also wore coral earrings.
Crown Princess Victoria wore a slate blue dress with a floral lace overlay for the reception.
She accessorized with a pair of long earrings. I think these are her feather earrings from Kreuger.
Princess Madeleine wore a printed dress underneath a gray coat, a concession to the chilly weather. I haven’t gotten a good look at her jewels for the reception, or the jewels worn by Princess Sofia or Princess Christina. I’ll update the post with information if that changes.
