On Thursday, the King and Queen of the Netherlands headed to the Gelderse Valley for a regional visit, and Queen Maxima made a dazzling appearance in August’s gorgeous, grassy green birthstone.
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima’s regional visit to the Gelderse Valley last week included numerous stops, all designed to highlight the area’s ongoing transformation.
They chatted with children in Ede during a stop at the town’s industrial heritage neighborhood, Enka.
In Bennekom, they met with athletes from the korfball team DVO. (Korfball is a Dutch sport that’s a little bit like basketball.)
They met with lots of people along the way, including in Nijkerk, where they visited the Appelpad recreational area.
Maxima was clearly ready to take one charming little resident home with her!
The day’s weather was changeable, and Maxima adjusted her attire as needed. In Nijkerk, she wore a trench coat and flat metallic Mary Janes, carrying the usual clear royal umbrella. (One must be able to be seen!)
When the rain stopped, Maxima was able to ditch the trench coat, showing off her bright green top and skirt (both from Natan), and to change into a pair of white heels (also Natan). She wore the same ensemble earlier this year on King’s Day in Rotterdam.
This time around, Maxima opted for a different hat and different jewelry, as well as a filmy shawl to avoid a chill.
She reached for a pair of floral statement earrings set with eye-catching peridots.
Here’s a closer look at the bright green peridot earrings. I wouldn’t be surprised if these are from Scully & Scully, the American firm that produced her pearl and peridot earrings.
Interestingly, she wore the pearl and peridot earrings last week as well, pairing them with a different green dress from Natan for a visit to the United Nations headquarters in New York. Did she perhaps pick up some new Scully & Scully earrings during the trip, do you think?
Anyway, back to Thursday! As usual, Maxima wore multiple bracelets and rings as well, including two bracelets that feature evil eye designs.
She wore a diamond and emerald cluster ring on her right hand.
And, interestingly, she stacked her orange diamond engagement ring and another diamond ring (a present from Willem-Alexander to celebrate the birth of Princess Ariane in 2007) together on her left hand.
