We recently chatted all about the gorgeous bridal jewels worn for the wedding of the Duke of Braganza’s daughter in Portugal—and today, we’ve got even more royal sparkle from the ceremony!
Netty Leistra, an experienced royal correspondent and longtime friend of The Court Jeweller, traveled to Portugal to be present outside the Palace of Marfa during the wedding of Infanta Maria Francisca de Braganza and Duarte de Sousa Araújo Martins on October 7. She captured some truly great images of the couple and their guests, including this dazzling picture of the bride wearing the King Luis Diamond Tiara. (More on that here!) Netty has uploaded even more of her pictures to her Flickr account, so be sure to head over there after you enjoy the images in today’s article.
Another of our lovely readers, Catarina, was also able to be present outside the palace during the celebrations. She snapped some photographs of the bride, and she kindly allowed me to share with all of you. You can really feel the happiness radiating off the bride here, can’t you?
Netty managed to capture some of the jewels worn by the wedding guests, too. Here’s a close-up of the pearls worn by the bride’s mother, the Duchess of Braganza. She’s also wearing the pink and white ribbon and badge of the Order of Saint Isabel, a Roman Catholic dynastic order of chivalry bestowed by the House of Braganza.
Princess Sibilla of Luxembourg wore a very festive set of jewels for the occasion, including an enormous beaded necklace!
Here’s Princess Isabelle of Liechtenstein, who is a sister-in-law of Prince Hans-Adam II. She also went big with her jewels, wearing a modern pearly necklace and earrings.
Princess Sophie of Prussia wore preppy pink and green florals for the wedding. She accessorized with a sparkly pair of pink and green earrings to complete the look.
And one of the most regal ladies in attendance was, as always, Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna of Russia, who is one of the claimants to the headship of the House of Romanov. She wore brilliant fuchsia pink for the ceremony with lovely pearl drop earrings (featuring a stud also set with reddish gemstones) and diamond brooches. These look like antique clips to me, with an interesting ribbon design.
Please join me in thanking Netty and Catarina again for sharing their images with us!
