On Monday, we saw some major diamond sparkle from Princess Astrid of Belgium during a trip to Australia.
Princess Astrid, the younger sister of King Philippe of the Belgians, travels often on diplomatic trips designed to strengthen economic ties between Belgium and her important allies. This week, she’s on a ten-day economic mission to Australia. On Monday, she delivered remarks during an official reception in Sydney.
Princess Astrid wore a pleated dress in a brilliant shade of bright purple for the reception. The dress features a black floral corsage embellishment, and Astrid also added additional black accessories.
Where jewels are concerned, however, Astrid went all-out with diamond sparkle. She wore a pair of diamond fringe earrings that we’ve seen her wear often over the years.
Here, for example, she wears the fringe earrings with Queen Elisabeth’s Art Deco Bandeau for a banquet held during the German state visit to Belgium in March 2016.
Astrid has often worn a diamond cocktail ring with the earrings, and she paired the pieces again for the reception in Sydney. I think these are part of a set.
Interestingly, she also wore a major diamond statement bracelet on her left wrist for the reception in Australia. This piece intrigues me!
