On Thursday, the King and Queen of Spain hosted European leaders in Granada, and Queen Letizia wore a pair of gorgeous diamond earrings for the summit.
King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain hosted European heads of state and government in Granada on Thursday during the European Political Community summit.
The summit’s backdrop was one of the most dramatic sites in Spain: the Alhambra, the magnificent palace complex begun in 1248 by Muhammad I of Granada. It’s one of the best-preserved examples of Islamic palace architecture in the world, and today it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
During the summit, King Felipe and Queen Letizia greeted leaders from across the European continent.
For the occasion, Queen Letizia wore a black and white ensemble, including a Carolina Herrera dress with a black bodice and a ruffled white skirt with a floral pattern.
Her primary accessory was a gorgeous pair of diamond earrings from Harry Winston.
The earrings feature elaborate diamond studs and petite pear-shaped drops. Queen Letizia’s first prominent appearance in the earrings took place nine years ago, in October 2014, during the celebrations for the Prince of Asturias Awards.
These are the kind of earrings that are hard to capture in a photograph, because they sparkle so much as the wearer moves. Here, Letizia wears them for a diplomatic corps reception at Zarzuela Palace in January 2019.
Here’s a better look at the earrings in a still photograph from Harry Winston.
Here’s one more look at the earrings on Letizia for last week’s reception at the Alhambra.
As usual, Letizia wore just one additional piece of jewelry: her Coreterno ring, which is engraved with a quotation from Dante.
