Tonight, the ladies of the Swedish royal family will be on hand in Stockholm for the Nobel Prize ceremony and banquet, wearing their finest gala dresses and jewelry. Ahead of the celebrations, let’s talk about the tiaras that we’d like to see Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, and Princess Sofia wear for the evening’s festivities!
It’s always helpful to look back at recent choices when making these predictions. For years, Queen Silvia alternated the Leuchtenberg Sapphire Tiara and Queen Sofia’s Tiara for the Nobels. She wore Queen Sofia’s Tiara in back to back years for the Nobels in 2018 and 2019.
Last year, in 2022, she surprised us all by deviating from her usual pair of diadems and selecting the Napoleonic Amethyst Parure Tiara for the celebrations. So far this year, we’ve seen her wear the King Edward VII Ruby Tiara and Queen Sofia’s Tiara during a state visit to Estonia, plus the Braganza Tiara for the King’s Golden Jubilee Banquet.

Crown Princess Victoria has sparkled in a trio of all-diamond tiaras at the most recent tiara-filled Nobel celebrations. She wore the Connaught Diamond Tiara in 2018 and the Baden Fringe Tiara in 2019, both with diamond floral brooches from the family vaults.
Last year, in 2022, she made a striking appearance in the Six-Button Tiara at the Nobels, paired with a suite of jewels she’s had for decades. Since then, we’ve also seen her wear the Boucheron Laurel Wreath Tiara at the big royal wedding in Jordan and for Prince Christian’s birthday gala in Denmark, plus the Baden Fringe Tiara for her father’s Golden Jubilee banquet.

Princess Sofia is nothing if not consistent! If my notes are correct, she has worn her diamond palmette tiara for every single gala appearance since it was remodeled in late 2017. But she has still been able to add some variety by wearing it with a slew of bejeweled toppers. We saw her wear the tiara with pearls for the 2018 Nobels and with turquoises for the ceremony and banquet in 2019.
Last year, in 2022, she wore the tiara with another new set of toppers: beautiful briolette-cut blue topazes. And in 2023, we saw her debut a stunning fifth set of gemstone toppers, wearing honey-colored citrines with the tiara for the King’s Golden Jubilee banquet.

My fantasy tiara prediction for tonight: Anything else! (The Swedish Aquamarine Kokoshnik, maybe?)
I’ll be back here later on tonight with an article dedicated to the tiaras worn for the Nobels. In the meantime, let us know which tiaras you’re hoping to see!
