On Friday, a Dutch princess and her daughter unveiled their new joint venture to the press, with plenty of bright colors and bold jewelry on display.
Princess Laurentien of the Netherlands, sister-in-law of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima, posed with her daughter, Countess Eloise of Orange-Nassau, outside of the clothing store My Lima Lima in The Hague on Friday. The princess and the countess are two of the owners of the vintage clothing store, which sells donated clothes and gives the proceeds to charity. They’ve teamed up with design expert Thomas Latcham for the venture. He and Eloise are in charge of the store concept, while Princess Laurentien focuses her attention on the philanthropic side of the enterprise, the newly-established My Lima Lima Foundation.
Princess Laurentien has always been a royal lady who is dedicated to her own artistic style, wearing avant-garde clothing and jewelry for a whole range of royal events. She’s passed down her interest in design to her daughter as well. Countess Eloise is an influencer, better known to her social media followers as Eloise van Oranje. In 2021, she published a book called Learning by Doing, inspired by the lessons she has learned while sharing aspects of her life online.
For the press preview at My Lima Lima, Princess Laurentien wore a hot pink dress with a Southwestern-style vest and black accessories. Eloise looked casual and cool in a patterned blouse with mustard-colored corduroy trousers and silver flats.
And, of course, there were some bold statement jewels on display as well. Laurentien wore a suite of hammered-metal disc jewelry in shades of dark pink, white, and gold. The necklace picked up on the style theme of the dress with its bolo-style design.
Eloise decided to go for the gold with her jewelry. She wore a pair of oversized gold hoop earrings studded with crystals, plus gold bracelets and several gold rings with sparkling accents.
My Lima Lima was formed with the mission “give to empower.” Through donations of unworn clothing, the store is able to fund charitable initiatives like KidsRights, which the school founded in Pakistan by the family of Malala Yousafzai; the Youth Education Fund, which distributes gift vouchers to children in need; and Everyday People, which provides support to unhoused people. You can see an example of some of the pre-loved fashion items being sold at the store on the My Lima Lima website.
