The Prince and Princess of Wales won’t be celebrating Easter in the public eye this year, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy a little Kate-related sparkle! Today, we’re looking back at the aquamarines she wore on Easter Sunday ten years ago in Australia.
On Easter Sunday in April 2014, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, as they were then, were in the middle of a royal tour of New Zealand and Australia. They were in Sydney for the holiday, which they celebrated by attending a service at St. Andrew’s Cathedral.
For the service at the cathedral, Kate wore an elegant ensemble in shades of dove gray. She paired a structured Alexander McQueen coat and coordinating dress with a bespoke headpiece from Jane Taylor Millinery and LK Bennett heels.
Kate also added small pieces of jewelry to the outfit that carried on the blue-gray theme, including a gorgeous pair of diamond and aquamarine earrings.
The earrings feature pendants with aquamarines in modern diamond settings, suspended from a slender row of round diamonds. Kate has been wearing the earrings in public since September 2012, when she debuted them during the couple’s Diamond Jubilee tour of Singapore and Malaysia.
Kate also wore a necklace with a small circle pendant. The necklace is part of Mappin & Webb’s Fortune collection. The pendant, which is made of white gold and set with diamonds, actually features three interlocking circles.
Kate also wore her Cartier Ballon de Bleu watch, plus her iconic diamond and sapphire engagement ring and her Welsh gold wedding ring.
Buckingham Palace has confirmed that King Charles III and Queen Camilla will be joined by other members of the royal family (but not the Waleses) for an Easter Sunday service in Windsor this weekend. I’ll have coverage of the jewels worn for that service either late on Sunday or early Monday morning. In the meantime, stay tuned this weekend to Hidden Gems, where I’ll have a very special article for subscribers. (Think Easter eggs…!)
