Princess Anne pulled off a rare feat at Cheltenham last week: wearing the same lovely equestrian-themed brooch in three different ways on three consecutive days!
The Princess Royal is one of the British royal family’s most important figures in the equestrian world. As a part of the British eventing team, she competed in the Olympics in Montreal in 1976. She won an individual gold medal at the European Championships in 1971, and the same year she was also voted as the BBC Sports Personality of the Year. She’s continued to be involved in all aspects of the sport. She’s a fixture at the annual Cheltenham Festival, which is held near her home in Gloucestershire.
On the second day of this year’s festival, Princess Anne wore a beige and ivory tweed ensemble with coordinating neutral accessories and brown suede boots with fringe detailing. She also wore a pair of modern disc earrings and a very appropriate brooch in the shape of a horse.
Here’s a close-up view of the brooch, which is made of shiny yellow gold. The piece has diamond accents in the horse’s mane and tail. On Wednesday at the races, Anne pinned the brooch just below one of the buttons of her jacket.
On Thursday, Princess Anne decided to wear the brooch again. This time, she added it to a green tweed and velvet coat, worn with a tan sweater and a colorful silk scarf. She also wore a matching green velvet hat. The brooch was one of three pins on the lap of the double-breasted coat. The other two are Anne’s Jockey Club badge and an “Owners and Trainers” Cheltenham Festival pin.
Anne placed the diamond and gold horse brooch on the velvet part of the collar, letting the details of the piece stand out beautifully. Anne also wore a simple pair of pearl stud earrings with the outfit.
On Friday, Anne completed her brooch trifecta, wearing the same horse brooch once again at the festival. She arrived in a bright scarlet red coat with a fur scarf and a fur hat.
This time, Anne pinned the horse brooch to her hat. Three days, three different brooch placements! She finished off the look with pearl and diamond cluster earrings and a gold and diamond necklace from her jewelry collection. Which of Anne’s three brooch outings was your favorite?
