On Wednesday, Queen Letizia of Spain was out and about in Cadiz, sparkling in emeralds, rubies, and moonstones.
King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain headed to Cadiz on Wednesday for the presentation of the Gold Medals of Merit in Fine Arts. Thirty-three awards were presented to outstanding individuals and institutions, handpicked by the Ministry of Culture and Sport, for their cultural achievements.
For the awards ceremony, Queen Letizia wore a pink and white printed dress from her closet, paired with coordinating pink heels.
Queen Letizia also reached into her jewelry archive for the occasion, wearing a pair of colorful statement earrings that she’s owned for years.
The earrings, which are set with rubies, emeralds, and large pear-shaped moonstones, come from the Spanish jewelry brand Tous. The company began in 1920 as a watchmaking enterprise founded by Salvador Tous Blavi in Tarragona, and in the 1950s, it was transformed by the next generation of the family in Barcelona into an iconic Spanish jewelry brand. Letizia owns numerous pieces of Tous jewelry.
This particular pair of Tous earrings has been in her collection for years. Above, she wears the earrings for an event in Talavera de la Reina back in May 2016.
Here’s another view of Letizia wearing the earrings for Wednesday’s awards presentation. Here, the moonstone pendant has twisted slightly, allowing a view of the back of the setting.
As usual, Letizia wore just one other accessory: her Coreterno ring, in its usual place on the index finger of her left hand. The gold ring is engraved with the final line of Dante’s Divine Comedy. She’s been wearing the piece since January 2023.
