Many of the royals are off on Easter holidays right now, but that gives us a chance to catch up with some royal jewels worn over the past few weeks. First up: gleaming gold earrings worn by Queen Mathilde of the Belgians.
On Thursday, March 21, Queen Mathilde traveled to Tournai, one of the oldest cities in Belgium, to attend a seminar. She greeted some of the people who had gathered to see her during a walkabout as part of the visit.
The seminar, “24 Years of the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda: Time for Pragmatism,” was organized by the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Queen Mathilde delivered remarks during the event, which focused on the need for the inclusion of women in peace processes.
For the seminar, Mathilde wore a patterned green day dress with coordinating accessories and a cape-style jacket. UFO No More tells us that the dress comes from Dries Van Noten, and the cape is a Natan collaboration piece.
With the outfit, Mathilde wore some of her signature over-sized gold jewelry: a pair of earrings and a coordinating bracelet.
The earrings come from Christine Bekaert. They’re inspired by traditional Suzani embroidery from Uzbekistan.
Mathilde’s gold cuff bracelet is also a Christine Bekaert piece. The jewel features a lotus flower motif.
The gold jewelry added a gleaming point of interest to an otherwise subdued outfit–a bit of elegant flair that Mathilde often enjoys bringing out for daytime engagements.
