How about a few more state visit jewels from our friends in Spain and the Netherlands? Here’s a look at what the royal ladies wore for tonight’s return reception in Amsterdam.
On the second evening of the Spanish state visit to the Netherlands, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia hosted a reception for their hosts, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, at the STRAAT Museum in Amsterdam. The reception was also attended by the Princess of Orange, plus Princess Margriet and Pieter van Vollenhoven.
The museum location was chosen for a particular reason. During the reception, the two royal couples jointly opened a new exhibition of work by ten Spanish and Dutch muralists. Above, Queen Letizia signs a piece of artwork during the exhibition opening. The other royals shown followed suit, and Princess Amalia signed her name as well.
And, of course, there was also time for a champagne toast to the enduring friendship between the two nations.
The attire for this evening’s event was much more casual, with the men in business suits and the women in cocktail dresses.
Queen Letizia wore a dramatic, structured navy blue dress from Benchellal. The designer behind the brand, Mohamed Benchellal, was born in the Netherlands to parents from Morocco.
With the dress, Letizia wore a pair of diamond statement earrings.
The earrings, shaped like stylized diamond leaves, were previously worn by her mother-in-law, Queen Sofia. Letizia debuted them in November 2022 for a dinner with the President of Croatia.
Queen Maxima and Princess Amalia opted for shades of blue and green for the reception. Maxima’s dress, which is an archive piece from her collection, was made by Jan Taminiau, while the writers over at Mode Koningin Maxima have identified Amalia’s dress as a piece from the brand Phase Eight.
Queen Maxima echoed the pattern of her dress with her earrings, wearing her checkerboard fringe earrings.
She also used two of the Dutch Ears of Wheat ornaments as hair slides. On her wrists, she wore her diamond wedding bracelet and the smaller of the Dutch East Indies Bracelets.
Amalia wore an interesting pair of gold earrings, but the details were hidden away in her hair, sadly. She also wore a delicate gold necklace and her aquamarine and diamond ring.
