On Sunday, the royal family of Jordan celebrated the birthday of one of their newest members, Princess Rajwa, with a series of bejeweled official portraits.
Princess Rajwa, the wife of Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan, celebrated her 30th birthday on Sunday. Rajwa, who trained as an architect, is a cousin of the King of Saudi Arabia as well as the wife of Jordan’s future monarch. In honor of her birthday, the Royal Hashemite Court shared two new gala portraits of the princess. The image above shows her wearing the same diamond earrings that she wore on her wedding day last year. (The ornament pinned to her waist is a crystal embellishment on her skirt.)
A second portrait shows Princess Rajwa wearing more diamonds, including her wedding tiara. With the tiara she wears diamond stud earrings and a diamond necklace. To me, the necklace looks like a companion piece to her wedding tiara and earrings. Note how the curved sections of the necklace’s design mirror the curved tops of the earrings.
We first saw Rajwa wear both the tiara and earrings at her royal wedding ceremony, held last June at Zahran Palace in Amman.
Rajwa wore her bridal diamonds with her structured modern wedding gown, which was made by the Lebanese designer Elie Saab.
Princess Rajwa also wore the same tiara and earrings with a second dress for her wedding banquet later the same evening. The ballgown was made by Dolce & Gabbana.
Here’s a closer look at the tiara and earrings from the wedding reception. The sides of the wedding tiara feature a blessing, which translates to “Hope from God,” in Arabic script. The choice of text was also a little nod to Rajwa, whose name means “hope.”
Rajwa’s husband, the Crown Prince, also shared a lovely candid photo of his wife on Instagram to celebrate her birthday. The photo’s caption reads, “May God continue to bless and nurture the bond between us. Happy Birthday Rajwa!” The couple has certainly been blessed this year already. A few weeks ago, they announced that they’re expecting their first child, with the birth anticipated later this year.
In that more casual photograph, Rajwa is also wearing some big jewelry. Her statement earrings come from Schiaparelli. The company describes the Mouth and Eye Earrings as “a pair of dangling earrings in gilded brass are composed of Anatomical elements representing an Eye adorned with crystal rhinestones and a surrealist Mouth with crystal briolettes. The Eye’s green iris is in printed resin.” The design is a nod to the surrealist art beloved by the company’s founder, the renowned Italian fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli. The earrings retail on the Schiaparelli website for €1850.
