Things are hopping along the French Riviera these days, and the ladies of the Grimaldi family have been bejeweled and busy. Let’s take a look today at diamond and gold jewelry worn by Princess Charlene of Monaco and Charlotte Casiraghi during outings in Monte-Carlo and Cannes.
On May 21, Charlotte Casiraghi, the elder daughter of Princess Caroline of Monaco, stepped out on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival wearing head-to-toe Chanel. She made her appearance ahead of a screening of the film Marcello Mio, a comedy starring Chiara Mastroianni and her mother, Catherine Deneuve.
With her Chanel gown, Charlotte also wore diamond earrings from one of the fashion house’s jewelry collections. The earrings are made of white gold and set with diamonds. From this angle, some of the gemstones look a little bit pink, but I think that’s a reflection from the red carpet itself.
The earrings are deliberately mismatched. They come from Chanel’s Eternal N°5 jewelry collection, and you’ll note that one of the earrings has a stud shaped like the classic number 5 from the company’s iconic fragrance bottle.
You’ll be able to spot the number 5 design detail here, in this view of the earrings worn in Charlotte’s left ear on the red carpet.
This weekend, Charlotte was back in Monaco with her siblings, cousins, and her uncle and aunt for one of the highlights of springtime in the principality: the Monaco Grand Prix.
Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene were joined by Princess Caroline’s children and their partners, Andrea and Tatiana Casiraghi, Charlotte Casiraghi, Pierre and Beatrice Casiraghi, and Princess Alexandra of Hanover and Ben Sylvester Strautmann, for the race. Also in attendance were Princess Stephanie’s three children, Pauline Ducruet, Louis Ducruet, and Camille Gottlieb, as well as Louis’s wife, Marie.
Everyone in the family was visibly overjoyed and moved when the race was won by Charles LeClerc. The Ferrari driver was born and raised in Monaco. He is the first Monegasque driver to win the Grand Prix since Louis Chiron’s victory in 1931. Several members of the Grimaldi family, including Prince Albert, shed happy tears after LeClerc’s win.
Princess Charlene was elegant on race day in a navy blue jumpsuit and accessories, all made by Louis Vuitton. The fashion house has a partnership with the Automobile Club of Monaco and provides a special custom trunk to hold the Grand Prix trophy.
Here’s a closer look at the Louis Vuitton earrings that Princess Charlene wore with her outfit for the race. These are the brand’s Ombre Blossom XL Hoops, made of pink gold and set with diamonds. The design of the earrings is meant to mimic part of the classic LV monogram.
For the gala dinner after the race on Sunday evening, Charlene sported another Louis Vuitton ensemble. Here, she and Prince Albert pose ahead of the gala celebration with the winning driver, Charles LeClerc, and his girlfriend, Alexandra Saint Mleux. Frederic Vasseur, the team principal and general manager of Scuderia Ferrari, also posed alongside the princely couple.
Her red and silver gown reflected the national colors of Monaco, but with a glitzy evening twist, on a day when patriotic pride was soaring high.
With the gown, Charlene added even more sparkle in the form of a large pair of diamond earrings. These are the Myriad earrings from Louis Vuitton’s Deep Time high jewelry line, made of white gold and set with diamonds. She also wore a sparkling diamond bracelet on her left wrist with a twist design. This too comes from Louis Vuitton, specifically from the Origins collection. Her diamond engagement ring also winked up from her left hand during the gala.
