The Princess of Wales made a triumphant return to the Royal Box at Wimbledon on Sunday, wearing vibrant royal purple with gleaming golden jewels.
The Princess of Wales was accompanied by her daughter, Princess Charlotte, as they were greeted by Debbie Jevans, chairwoman of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, on Saturday ahead of the men’s final match. Princess Catherine has been the club’s patron since 2017, when she took over the role from the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Kate and Charlotte met with several young British tennis players as they arrived ahead of the match, including Flora Johnson, Yuriko Lily Miyazaki, Lucy Shuker, Emma Raducanu, and Sonay Kartal.
Then, the princesses headed to the front row of the Royal Box to watch the men’s final match between Carlos Alcaraz of Spain and Novak Djokovic of Serbia.
They were joined in the front row by another member of the family: Kate’s younger sister, Pippa Middleton Matthews, who is also an avid tennis fan. Charlotte chatted happily with her aunt throughout the match.
After the match, Kate made her way down to the court to present the trophy to the winner of the tournament, Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz. It was a replay of last year’s championship moment, when Kate also presented the trophy to Alcaraz.
For her return to Wimbledon this year, Kate wore her All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club member’s ribbon pinned to a vibrant purple dress from the brand Safiyaa.
She accessorized with gleaming golden jewels, including a major pair of modern statement earrings.
The earrings are a modified crescent-shaped hoop, with a chunky teardrop-style shape that’s become such a popular design motif in recent years. They’ve been identified by online sleuths as the “Sabine” earrings from the brand By Pariah. The earrings, which are described as “medium 14kt gold vermeil hoop earrings,” retail for £485.
On her right wrist, Kate also wore a pair of gold torque bangle bracelets, both from the brand Halcyon Days. The one closest to her wrist, one of the brand’s Salamander styles, was also worn by the princess last year at Wimbledon. The second, smaller bangle appears to be one of the company’s hammered torque bracelets.
And because I know some of you will be interested, here’s a closer view of the gem-set stud earrings worn by Pippa Matthews for the match.
The Princess of Wales received a resounding standing ovation when she arrived in the Royal Box for today’s match. It’s wonderful to see her out and about and looking so well. Here’s hoping we see her more often in the coming months!
