I’m popping in with another little bit of bejeweled goodness on this December Friday, because Crown Princess Victoria made a dazzling appearance this evening at the annual Swedish Academy ceremony in a special parure of jewels from Bulgari.
On Friday evening, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel arrived at the Old Stock Exchange Building in Stockholm for the annual grand ceremony of the Swedish Academy. Victoria wore a deep red velvet gown from her closet for the white-tie event. The Camilla Thulin gown, which has long sleeves and a gathered waist, has been in her wardrobe for the better part of a decade.
Victoria and Daniel joined her father, King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, for the ceremony. The Swedish Academy was founded in 1786 by King Gustaf III as the highest authority on the Swedish language. The eighteen-member academy, which also chooses the laureate for the Nobel Prize for Literature each year, was modeled on the Académie Française.
With her velvet gown, Crown Princess Victoria wore a demi-parure of jewelry that has been in her collection for a remarkable 20 years. The set, which includes a necklace, earrings, and a ring, comes from Bulgari.
Here’s a closer look at the earrings and necklace as Victoria wore them on Friday. The multi-gem suite features diamonds, tourmalines, amethysts, peridots, blue topazes, citrines, and pearls in yellow gold settings.
One of Victoria’s earliest appearances in the demi-parure took place in May 2004, when she wore the suite for the royal wedding of the Prince of Asturias and Letizia Ortiz Rocasolano (now the King and Queen of Spain) in Madrid.
In more recent years, we saw her wear the earrings from the suite for the wedding of Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa of Jordan in Amman in June 2023.
On Friday, Victoria finished off the look with a small diamond rose brooch, which she used to secure her Seraphim sash.
