Merry Christmas, everyone! I hope you’re having a fantastic holiday season, no matter how you celebrate. Today, I’ve got a selection of Christmas cards released by royal families to add a little extra sparkle to your day. Enjoy!
In Britain, King Charles III and Queen Camilla selected a more casual photo than last year’s coronation portrait for their Christmas card this year. In the picture, Queen Camilla wears gold earrings with a royal blue dress. The picture was taken in May 2024 to mark the first anniversary of the coronation.
For their 2024 Christmas card, the Prince and Princess of Wales also shared a photograph featuring their family in a more casual setting. The image was originally published by the family in September, when Princess Catherine shared a video message announcing that she had finished chemotherapy treatment. Kate wore casual pieces of jewelry in the video, including a new eternity band.
In Spain, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia opted for a happy family portrait for this year’s card, with their daughters, Leonor and Sofia, positioned in the center of the picture. Queen Letizia wore aquamarine silk separates for the portrait, paired with colorful statement earrings from Sibela. With her red trouser suit, Leonor wore ruby and diamond earrings from Gold & Roses. The picture was taken this year in June, during the commemorations of the tenth anniversary of Felipe’s ascension to the throne.
The Grand Duke and Grand Duchess of Luxembourg released a relaxed Christmas card this year featuring all of their children and grandchildren. Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa are pictured with Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume, Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie, Prince Charles, and Prince François; Prince Félix, Princess Claire, Princess Amalia, Prince Liam, and Prince Balthasar; Prince Louis, Prince Gabriel, and Prince Noah; Princess Alexandra, Nicolas Bagory, and Victoire Bagory; and Prince Sébastien. The portrait was taken this summer in Cabasson, France.
The Grand Duke’s first cousin, King Philippe of the Belgians, opted for a more formal portrait of his own royal family for this year’s Christmas card. King Philippe and Queen Mathilde pose with their children, Prince Gabriel, Princess Elisabeth, Princess Leonore, and Prince Emmanuel in the picture. Queen Mathilde wears a royal blue dress from Natan with Percossi Papi earrings. I believe Elisabeth is also wearing a pair of earrings from Percossi Papi with her red velvet ensemble.
Monaco’s princely family also opted for a posed family portrait for this year’s Christmas card. Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene posed by the Christmas tree with Princess Gabriella and Hereditary Prince Jacques. Charlene is wearing a Ralph Lauren sweater and jeans, and Gabriella’s gleaming gold shoes are from Christian Dior.
The royal family of Norway has also released a new family portrait to mark the Christmas season, featuring King Harald V and Queen Sonja with Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, and Princess Ingrid Alexandra. Queen Sonja wears red with some of her favorite modern metallic jewelry in the picture.
A scheduling update: I’m spending Christmas with my family today, so my coverage of the jewels worn by the British royals at Sandringham will be published at some point tomorrow. See you then!
