I promised at least one more jewelry highlight from the recent Golden Globe Awards, and this one’s a stunner: a modern diamond and opal demi-parure, worn on the red carpet by Anya Taylor-Joy.
The actress Anya Taylor-Joy, a presenter at this year’s awards ceremony, walked the red carpet at the Beverly Hilton Hotel wearing an ensemble that recalled trends popular a quarter of a century ago. Indeed, the pale pink slip dress she wore is an archive piece, from Dior’s 1998 spring collection, paired with a fringed shawl. Taylor-Joy is a Dior brand ambassador.
The ’90s styling stopped with the jewelry, however. Rather than opting for the minimalist pieces that someone would likely have worn with this dress in 1998, Taylor-Joy went for a big, midcentury-inspired jewelry look. The pastel shade of the dress was echoed by the luminous opals that were set in Taylor-Joy’s jewelry for the evening. The actress is also a brand ambassador for Tiffany & Co., and the jewelry she wore for the occasion was from that firm.
Here’s a product photo of the statement-making necklace worn by Taylor-Joy. This is Tiffany’s Céleste Star Burst Crystal Opal Necklace from the Blue Book 2024 collection. The necklace features six oval crystal opals, totaling more than 64 carats, and more than 69 carats of diamonds, all set in platinum and yellow gold.
Crystal opals are generally classed as those that possess a transparent, translucent, or semi-translucent quality, meaning that light is able to pass through the stones. The white opals in the Tiffany necklace throw off a rainbow of colors. Opals are notoriously difficult to photograph, but the fire is evident in these stones.
Tiffany didn’t stop there—they also loaned the matching Star Burst Crystal Opal Bracelet to Taylor-Joy for her red carpet moment. The bracelet, which features the same design as the necklace, is set with more than 26 carats of crystal opals.
Taylor-Joy’s ensemble was completed with a simple (but substantial) pair of diamond stud earrings, also from Tiffany & Co. The choice of earrings seems like a sensible one. What pair could possible compete with the necklace and bracelet?
