In a difficult week for the people of Sweden, there was a small bright spot: the birth of a new princess. On Monday, the King and Queen joined Prince Carl Philip and other family members at a special service of thanksgiving for the birth of his daughter, Princess Ines.

On Friday, Princess Sofia of Sweden gave birth to her fourth child at Danderyd Hospital. The new baby is the first daughter for Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia, joining three older brothers, Prince Alexander, Prince Gabriel, and Prince Julian. On Monday, the baby’s names were officially announced: Princess Ines Marie Lilian Silvia of Sweden.
The little princess’s middle names honor her maternal grandmother, Marie Hellqvist; her great-great-aunt, the late Princess Lilian; and her paternal grandmother, Queen Silvia. Ines was also given the title of Duchess of Västerbotten. The previous Duke and Duchess of Västerbotten were the King’s parents, Prince Gustaf Adolf and Princess Sibylla.

After the birth of a royal baby in Sweden, the royal family gathers in the chapel of the Royal Palace in Stockholm for a Te Deum service, a short service of thanksgiving. To offer thanks for Princess Sofia and Princess Ines, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia joined Prince Carl Philip and his sons for Monday’s service. Also present were Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Princess Madeleine, Christopher O’Neill, and Princess Christina.

Here’s the proud father, Prince Carl Philip, arriving for the service with Prince Alexander, Prince Gabriel, and Prince Julian.

For the Te Deum service, Queen Silvia wore an ivory ensemble with an embellished blouse and pearly buttons. She wore a single strand of multicolored pearls with modern pearl drop earrings to match, as well as a pearl bracelet and an interesting cluster ring.

Crown Princess Victoria wore a floral lace dress with gold and diamond feather earrings from Kreuger, bracelets on both wrist, and a petite diamond rosette brooch. The brooch, which has been in Victoria’s personal collection for years, was a gift from Prince Bertil and Princess Lilian.

Princess Madeleine also wore a gray-blue ensemble for the service. The spotlight piece of jewelry in her ensemble was the small brooch that was pinned to the lapel of her coat.

Here’s a slightly better look at the brooch, which appears to be a vintage piece set with a large aquamarine, diamonds, and a pendant pearl drop.

And here’s a look at the gold and pearl jewelry that Princess Christina wore with her vibrant pink and black ensemble for the service.
