Princess Isabella, the elder daughter of the King and Queen of Denmark, will celebrate her eighteenth birthday next month, which means a fashion show, a concert performance—and, of course, a tiara.

Queen Alexandrine’s Incredible Diamond Drop Tiara
April’s birthstone is the glittering diamond, and where I live, it’s also the month for spring rainstorms. What better way to combine the two than a shower of diamond drops? The royal tiara that exemplifies that idea best is definitely the Alexandrine Diamond Drop Tiara.

A Celebration of Princess Benedikte’s Beautiful Floral Birthday Tiara
When it came time to offer a tiara to Princess Benedikte in 1962, King Frederik and Queen Ingrid decided to use another piece of Queen Alexandrine’s jewelry to create a new tiara for their daughter. They selected an antique diamond floral brooch from Alexandrine’s jewelry box to use as the centerpiece of the new diadem, commissioning additional diamond floral sections to be placed on either side of the original brooch to lengthen it.

Queen Anne-Marie’s Antique Corsage Tiara
To provide a tiara for her third daughter, Princess Anne-Marie, Queen Ingrid turned to her own jewelry box. She had inherited a suite of diamond and pearl jewels from her grandmother, Queen Victoria of Sweden, that included a pair of earrings, a small brooch, and a large corsage ornament.

Princess Märtha Louise, the only daughter of King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway, celebrated her 18th birthday in September 1989. At the time, her grandfather, King Olav V, was still on the throne. He presented her with a petite diamond and pearl tiara with a modern wheat-ear design.

Crown Princess Victoria’s Diamond and Sapphire Tiara
Crown Princess Victoria, eldest child of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden, celebrated her 18th birthday at the Royal Palace in Stockholm on July 14, 1995. Among her birthday gifts was a small tiara with a modified festoon design. The jewel features small diamonds and sapphires set at the tip of each festoon motif.

Princess Madeleine’s Aquamarine Bandeau
Blue-eyed Princess Madeleine has always looked particularly nice in aquamarines, and her collection has grown to include several jewels set with the gemstone. For her 18th birthday, she received an early important diamond and aquamarine jewel. The heirloom Art Deco tiara features a single large aquamarine set between two slender rows of diamonds. It originally belonged to her step-grandmother, Queen Louise of Sweden, and was also previously worn by Madeleine’s royal aunts.

Princess Ingeborg’s Pearl and Diamond Circle Tiara
Princess Ingrid Alexandra’s birthday gift tiara has a long history in the family. It was likely purchased by Prince Carl of Sweden from Boucheron, following the firm’s showing of the tiara at the Exposition Universelle, held in 1900 in Paris. The tiara originally featured just interlocking diamond circles set in platinum, and a set of pearl button-style elements was later added to the piece.
